Pianist Rosa Li made her orchestral debut with the Far Eastern Symphony Orchestra at the age of nine in Khabarovsk, Russia, upon the invitation of honored musician, Vyacheslav Sobolevsky. At the age of ten, Rosa performed with members of the Oregon Ballet Theatre Orchestra and the Oregon Symphony at the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall under Mr. Niel DePonte as a winner of the MetroArts Inc Young Artists Concerto Competition. She returned on April 7th, 2006 and again on April 25th, 2008, making her a three- time winner of the Young Artists Concerto Competition. She gave her first solo recital at the age of eleven, and has been studying with Dorothy Fahlman since the age of five.
Since 2004 Rosa has been invited to perform in the annual "Ten Grands" for the Snowman Foundation Concert; this year will mark her sixth appearance as a feature soloist of the show. She recently performed as a pianist for the Oregon Ballet Theatre in their production of Jerome Robbins's ballet "The Concert," and for the School of the Oregon Ballet Theatre in George Balanchine's ballet "Harlequinade. She was selected as a Young Artist Fellow with Chamber Music Northwest, and she has also received recognition from the Treasures of Portland. She has performed with the Portland Chamber Orchestra, and Portland Symphonic Choir and Columbia Symphony.
More recently, the wondrously talented Portland native pianist Rosa Li has been off to Indiana University and the Juilliard School in New York perfecting her brilliance and gaining an astonishingly broad repertory of music from every corner of the globe. Just returned to her hometown, she will give a marvelous, virtuoso ride through music from the very familiar to some as new as spring flowers in China.
