Oregon Music Festival
Oregon Music Festival is a composer-focused international festival of classical music located in Portland, Oregon. An annual event, the festival focuses on two or three composers whose works provide the centerpieces of performance activities. The repertoire includes great standards as well as lesser known masterworks. Festival's many ensembles and programs offer a variety of collaborative opportunities for professional musicians as well as community young players. Here, the local, national and international musicians are brought into a creative dialogue whose sole purpose is to celebrate great classical music.
Each June, in addition to the festival's symphonic concerts, OMF offers a range of recitals, lectures, chamber music concerts and discussion groups. At the core of OMF's philosophy lies the idea that this is the place where serious artistic collaboration, growth and enrichment take place -- a place where local, national and international artists work intensely together and where accomplished musicians mentor the next generation of artists.
Music aficionados will be pleased to experience the work of outstanding soloists, conductors and ensembles from home and abroad, performing repertoire that includes not only the great classics but also lesser known masterworks. The Festival's artistic policy is unique in that it is driven by an artistic collective -- the Artistic Collegium -- which contributes to the shaping and offerings of the festival. At the helm of the Collegium is the Artistic Director whose vision guides the creative energies of the group. The festival is governed and supported by a board of Oregonians and representatives from the international community, providing the organization with a global perspective and connection with the art world at large.
