Coraline in Concert
While exploring the rambling old house her family recently moved into, Coraline finds a hidden door leading to a fantasy version of her boring life. But to remain in this ideal world, she must make a frighteningly real sacrifice. Celebrate the 10th anniversary of Coraline, created by Portland’s own LAIKA, with the visually stunning film projected on the giant screen while the Oregon Symphony performs Bruno Coulais’ haunting soundtrack live. Special Concert

Dance West is the pre-professional dance company at the Arts & Communication Magnet Academy in Beaverton, OR. Dance West provides an intensive training program for the school’s most advanced dance students desiring in-depth study and performance experience. Dancers who have auditioned for placement range in ages from 13–19 and commit to at least one full year of a training and performance schedule. The students, staff, and administrators share a common goal of developing stellar students with an arts-infused curriculum. Company members participate in a daily schedule of rigorous core academic studies, dance technique classes, and a two-and-a-half-hour rehearsal period to pursue dance and associated college or career avenues. Students are encouraged to attend college and their participation in this repertory company exposes them to college informants and adjudicators who help them find the right match. In addition to their core academic studies, students develop their technical and presentation skills and experience life in the professional world of dance.
