“The best Christmas celebration in the known universe” journeys to Scotland this year to celebrate the season with ancient traditions of song, dance, ritual, and story, including the sword dancing and choreography with guest artist Francis Attanasio, the evocative Abbotts Bromely Horn Dance, a hilarious Mummer’s Play, a band of traditional instruments with special guest artists fiddler Kevin Carr and piper Elias Alexander, the Revels Adult and Children’s Choruses, audience sing-alongs, and more.
We are overjoyed to announce that this year the Portland Revels “Christmas Revels, Highland Voyage, A Scottish Celebration of the Winter Solstice” performances will be at the beautiful Newmark Theatre in downtown Portland!
Highland Voyage is the story of three fools on a quest to put the sun, moon, and stars back into the sky. We’ll have all of your favorite Revels traditions including the Abbotts Bromley Horn Dance, a Mummer’s Play, audience sing-alongs and more! Full of wonder, magic, music, and laughter.
Featuring life size puppets, Betsy Branch and special musical guests piper and singer Elias Alexander, Kevin Carr on pipes and fiddle and as “The Poet”, Owen Hofmann-Smith on cello and Elizabeth Nicholson on harp. Francis Attanasio as Papa Stour Sword Dance and Community Dance choreographer. With the Portland Brass, Robert Lockwood and the Portland Revels Adult and Children’s Choruses.
